Rhythm N’ Bruise 2012 review

It’s never been done seen or done before! It’s a Snowboard Rhythm Jump Section Event.

Rhythm N’ Bruise 2012 review

The 2012 Rhythm and Bruise went down last weekend at WhitePass Washington. The switch-backing course consisted of 12 jump features linked together with banked slalom style berms. The idea of this type of contest is focused not on one or two tricks, but on linking the entire course together and doing tricks on every feature and with style. It’s not a boardercross and it’s not timed and there is only one rider on the course at a time. Like a Supercross track, a BMX track mixed in with a flowy Mt.bike trail and you get the idea.

The event director Zak Basher and long time snowboard pro Matt Cummins of Lib Tech/ Oneballjay and Northwest Snowboards put their heads together on this one. Zak worked for Oneballjay for over a decade and then ran the Whitepass Snowboard park before getting the green light on this event and put together an amazing posse of talent to build the course. The course is huge and requires a massive amount of hand work plus the use of two cats and a week of time for construction.

This year was the second year of the event and was a huge success. The course was insane, the weather was sunny and a ton of riders from all over the place showed up and ripped it up. Forest Bailey was putting together some amazing runs and won the Pro class.

A big time Thank You goes out to WhitePass for making this event happen as well as the sponsors:
